Our Mission

The NWFCU Foundation empowers youth to transcend boundaries and achieve their goals. By integrating health, well-being, and education into a comprehensive network of support — including scholarships, financial literacy, and basic school needs — we are building a foundation where every student can dream without limits.

What makes the Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation truly remarkable is not just what they give, but how they give. They listen. They ask what we need. They respond with empathy, innovation, and integrity. Though their reach spans more than 40 schools and 40 business partners, they make each one of us feel like we are the center of their mission. For Dogwood, they have been nothing short of transformational.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

Two Decades of Turning Compassion into Action

Since 2004, the Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation has been a steady, trusted presence in the lives of Northern Virginia students — showing up when it matters most. What began as a locally focused effort in the Herndon-Reston community has grown into a regional force for good, now supporting a network of 40 schools and nine nonprofit partners. From our first partnership with Dranesville Elementary to touching 38,900 lives in a single year, our story is one of sustained, compounding generosity and a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together.

About the Foundation

Fueling Dreams, Defying Limits.

For over twenty years, the Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation hasn’t just been a steady presence, we’ve been a powerhouse of opportunity for Northern Virginia students. We don’t just show up, we show up with passion, purpose, and the drive to ignite change when it matters most.

Ever since our launch in 2004, we’ve been fueled by a bold, unstoppable belief: every single child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream without limits.

Today, that vibrant energy powers everything we do. From life-changing scholarships and inspiring mentorships to vital food drives and empowering financial education, we are actively unlocking potential in thousands of students every year.

In 2025, we absolutely shattered expectations by reaching an awe-inspiring milestone: touching 38,900 lives in a single year! But that number is so much more than a statistic. It represents:

  • Pure excitement as children lace up brand-new shoes.
  • Joyful connection as families share warm, abundant Thanksgiving meals.
  • Unstoppable pride as first-generation college students step into bright futures they once thought were out of reach.
  • Empowered classrooms finally vibrating with the top-tier resources every student deserves.

We are incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and the best part? We are just getting started.
